SLU AT Program Celebrates 2018 Graduates

The Saint Louis University Athletic Training Program celebrated its 2018 graduating students in the Doisy College of Health Sciences Precommencement Ceremony on May 18th and University Commencement on May 19th at Chaifetz Arena.

An additional highlight of the Doisy College Precommencement was 2018 Master of Athletic graduate Killian Hollo outstanding performance of the national anthem!

Congratulations to the Saint Louis University Athletic Training Students who are participating in the 2016 Commencement activities!  As a 3+2 Graduate Professional Program, the SLU Athletic Training Program has graduates at the baccalaureate and the post-baccalaureate levels.  

The graduates will be recognized at Chaifetz Arena in the Doisy College of Health Sciences Pre-commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 13, 2016 and all degrees will be conferred at the University Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2016.

SLU AT Students Celebrate Graduation Day

 

Graduation day for students in the Saint Louis University Athletic Training Program is a very special celebration.  Graduates are recognized at the Doisy College of Health Sciences Pre-Commencement which occurs on Thursday of graduation week.  What makes it so special is, because most SLU AT students receive both a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Athletic Training degree, that there are 2 cohorts of students graduating at one time.

A tradition of the SLU AT Program is to have an MAT Celebration at a local restaurant after pre-commencement.  This year's celebration took place at John D. McGurk's Restaurant in Soulard.

First Freshman Class in SLU AT History: Adriana Black, Janese' Evans, Rachel Cocek, Lizzy Kienstra, Hilary Orf and Mary Finkenkeller.

This year's graduation marked the first freshmen class in SLU AT program history receiving their MAT degrees.  The Doisy Alumni Board recognized those six students, who were the first to enter SLU as a freshman in 2008 and go through all 5 years of the program.  Meghan Gehrs ATC (SLU MAT Class of 2011), Doisy Alumni Board member, recognized Adriana Black, Rachel Cocek, Janese' Evans, Mary Finkenkeller, Lizzy Kienstra and Hilary Orf with a special gift and certificate.

ATEP Celebrates Graduating Students

The Saint Louis University Athletic Training Education Program graduating the first Master of Athletic Training students in SLU history at the Doisy College of Health Sciences precommencement ceremony on May 13, 2010 and the University Commencement on May 15, 2010.  The MAT graduates celebrated at dinner with the program faculty and their families after precommencement.
Kellie Black, Ilene Chambers, Heather King and Eric Sass received the MAT degrees.  Jacob Blasingame, Meghan Gehrs and Emily Monahan received their Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degrees, they will get their MAT degrees in May 2011.

An end and a new beginning!

The END of the school year...

The Doisy College of Health Sciences pre-commencement celebration took place on Thursday, May 15th at Chaifetz Arena. I was invited to be the Master of Ceremonies (I hope I didn't make TOO many mistakes) and AT student Kellie Black received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degree. I enjoyed meeting her entire family at the reception after pre-commencement.


Chaifetz Arena proved to be a dazzling new home for our ceremonies.


And a NEW BEGINNING!

This week Kellie and three others will start the Professional Phase of the Athletic Training as our first class of students in the program. They are all transfers, two from other programs at SLU and two from outside of SLU. The other students starting Gross Anatomy and Principles of Athletic Training this week are Heather King (SLU), Ilene Chambers (SIU) and Eric Sass (Elon).

We are very excited to have such fine students in our first class and I look forward to having us all grow and develop together!
