SLU AT Student Presents Poster at SLU Graduate Student Association Research Symposium


On Friday, March 31, 2017, Saint Louis University Athletic Training student Amelia Meigs (MAT Class of 2017) presented a poster of her Master of Athletic Training Capstone Project: "The Development of Cultural Competence in Athletic Training Students Through Educational Outreach at a Diverse Public High School" at the SLU Graduate Student Association Research Symposium in the Busch Student Center.


The research examines the Roosevelt High School Athletic Training Club, funded by a National Athletic Trainers' Association Ethnic Diversity Enhancement Grant, and its impact on cultural competence for the SLU AT Students who serve as mentors in the program.  

Amelia has coordinated the program this year with Faculty Mentor Anthony Breitbach PhD, ATC; Doctoral Assistant Kemba Noel-London MAT, ATC; and fellow student Jenna Ginsberg (MAT Class of 2018).

Congratulations to Amelia and all involved in this project!

SLU AT Student Presents MAT Capstone Project at SLU Graduate Research Symposium




Emily Grace (SLU MAT Class of 2014) presented her MAT Capstone Project entitled: "Management of Recurrent Exertional Compartment Syndrome in a Competitive Collegiate Women’s Volleyball Athlete" as a poster at the 2014 GSA Graduate Research Symposium at SLU's Busch Student Center on Friday, April 11, 2014.  She and her classmates will all be making public presentations of their capstone projects on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 8:00 am -12:00 noon in Room 1036 AH on the Medical Center Campus.  For more information about attending MAT Capstone Day contact 314-977-8561 or atep@slu.edu.

The SLU Graduate Student Association's Graduate Research Symposium is held each year during the spring semester. This year's symposium marked it's 20th annual year. This is the second year in a row an AT student presented in the symposium. 2013 MAT graduate Bridget Quirk MAT, ATC presented at last year's event.

The GSA Graduate Research Symposium is an event open to all SLU graduate students. Every department with graduate degree programs is encouraged to participate in this interdisciplinary forum. Each year's paper and poster presentations are divided into categories based on the distribution of the participants. Judges are selected from SLU faculty to represent the variety of disciplines.

SLU AT Student Presents at Graduate Research Symposium



Saint Louis University Athletic Training Student Bridget Quirk (MAT Class of 2013) presented a poster at the Graduate Research Symposium. The title of her poster was: "Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome In A Division I Collegiate Soccer Player: A Case Report". Dr. Kitty Newsham and Dr. Bill Siler served as her mentors on the project.


Hosted by the Graduate Student Association, the annual Graduate Research Symposium is held each year during the spring semester. This year's symposium was held on Friday, April 26, 2013, in the BSC Multipurpose Rooms 170-173.
